Jan Quinn - Jan's Workout Owner and Fitness Instructor
Jan Quinn has been in the fitness industry for over 30 years in various capacities. She has been a YMCA-YWCA Trainer and evaluator for the Y Education Centre in the area of group fitness and also was the Supervisor of Group Fitness at the Metro Central Y. At the Y, she also taught the Group Fitness Apprenticeship Training Program. Her certifications include Group Fitness, Older Adults and Stability Ball. She has been the owner and manager of Jan’s Workout in Blackburn Hamlet for over 30 years, well outlasting other larger fitness organizations in the area. Her commitment to fitness has been an inspiration to her many fitness participants as she has participated in many distance running and biking events, a Marathon, Triathlon and a Duathlon. She plays tennis and golf in summer, and skis and skates in the winter. She has always appreciated the dedication of her many fitness participants in the Blackburn area, especially those who have been at Jan’s Workout for most of the 30 years.
Lorna Lyttle - Light Workout and Pilates for Life Instructor
Lorna has been with Jan’s Workout since the very first class held in 1983. After four years of working out regularly with Jan, she became a certified group fitness instructor herself through the YM-YWCA. Since then, she has led classes at Jan’s Workout in aerobics, strength training, and Golf-fitness. Her area of interest is strength training, and she has become a certified Stability Ball Instructor, and also worked very hard to earn a certification for teaching Pilates. As a Pilates instructor, she not only gives classes at Jan’s Workout, but she also gives private classes. She particularly enjoys the rehabilitative and preventative aspects of Pilates and receives referrals from physiotherapists and massage therapists. Lorna appreciates the benefits of a healthy active lifestyle especially for older and physically limited adults and is committed to the mission of Jan’s Workout.
Joseph Cull - Strength for Mobility Instructor
Joseph teaches a variety of classes around the city and feels very fortunate to work at a job he loves! A Volunteer Group Fitness Instructor for the Older Adult Program for the YMCA/YWCA since 2003, and an employee of Jan's Workout, Joseph embraces the philosophy that being fit can be a fun journey and we can achieve that by remaining physically active and engaged in life. He has a proven ability to motivate clients to achieve, maintain, or renew their personal fitness goals as well as an entertaining personality and a great sense of humour.
Hilary Kemsley - Strength & Stretch Instructor
Hilary Kemsley became a fitness instructor in her 20’s through the YM-YWCA and Carleton University. For 15 years she taught high-impact aerobics to her peers at various locations around Ottawa. As children, family and work occupied more and more time, Hilary switched to being a regular at fitness and yoga classes, played tennis, rode her bike, and jogged. Hilary knows how important it is to keep moving and strong as an older adult so in 2014 re-trained as an instructor for older adults through the YM-YWCA. Hilary teaches an Interval class at the Taggart Y and leads Strength Training at Jan’s Workout.
Peter Kusovac - Yoga Stretch Instructor
Peter Kusovac is a Hatha Yoga teacher certified from the Upward Dog Studio in Ottawa. Peter started doing Yoga as a child, and renewed his practice after many years doing martial arts. As a teacher, he challenges students to tune into the connection between the mind and the body, in a supportive and caring way.
His classes are fun and musical. The flowing yoga routines bring noticeable benefits, and keep people coming back. Regular yoga practice helps us discover that virtually anything is possible.
Diane Follon - Gentle Yoga Instructor
Diane Follon is a certified Hatha and Yin Yoga Instructor as well as a certified Lakshmi Voelker chair yoga Instructor. In 2006,Diane completed teacher training in 'Yoga for the Rest of Us "with Peggy Cappy and, in 2011, she was certified as an LVCYT, "Lakshmi Voelker Chair Yoga Teacher". Both these certifications were obtained at the world renowned Kripalu yoga centre in Massachusetts, USA.
Diane’s goal is for the students to be accepting of where they are and how they feel in the present moment. Her focus is also on assuring her students are calm, centred, relaxed and at peace once they leave her class. She also brings a warm and loving energy to all her students.

Kristen Wilson - Guest Instructor
For close to 20 years, Kristen Wilson has been teaching ballet, tap, jazz, stretch & strength and lyrical jazz for various reputable schools throughout Ontario. She trained as a student of dance for over 20 years and achieved her teacher certification in tap, jazz and ballet.
